Hugo Almeida

Where I'm from: I was born in Lisbon on July 21st in 1976 in my amazing beautiful, friendly and old country, Portugal. I currently live in Odivelas, a fast growing city on the outskirts of the capital.

What I do: I currently work as an account manager in the most prestigious Portuguese bank company, Caixa Geral de Depósitos. Itīs very demanding and quite a "goal oriented" profession that gives me the chance to constantly upgrade my knowledge and ability to discover the best investments for my demanding clients. I believe that a person isnīt his job, therefore, itīs outside of work that I embrace my true passions, International Relations (area in witch I have a degree and have almost finshed my MA)and videogames. I really enjoy playing and collectiong everything that is SMS related.

How I got interested in the Master System: The SMS was the first videogame console I owned. Back in 1992, I remember being mesmerized by the images of Alex Kidd in Miracle World playing at my local videogame store and the thrill of buying a title, carefully selecting and experimenting before making the final decision (at the time I could only have 2/3 games a year). The experience of playing the game for the first time was like, well, instant love. And you know what they say, thereīs no love like the first. I kept buying games until the Christmas of 1996, when I bought a PSX. I still remember seeing the SMS being sold in 1997 with a "Sapo Xule" game, Portuguese edition, that I simply cannot find today. Grrrrr. About three years ago, I found the late segamastersystem.com and realized I wasnīt alone, then I discovered eBay and started to realize that the SMS was indeed a very important system and I still had, and have, a lot a learn.

Top five favorite games: 1. Master of Darkness 2. Asterix 3. Bubble Bobble 4. Alex Kidd in Miracle World 5. Columns

My SMS Collection: Three years ago I had 30 games, but now I own about 300 games (see the trend 3/30/300) and wish to finish my SMS collection ASAP. The problem resides in finding the remaining titles I need for a fair price. But I have the time, patience and company (all the members of sega8bit.com forums), so letīs hope 5 years from now I can say that my collection is finished.
