Bob Bailey

Where I'm from: I'm from Cheshire in the UK, although I currently live and work in Peterborough.

What I do: I keep myself busy in the day as a Project Management Consultant. I'm interested in all retro gaming, not just the SMS, although it's probably my favourite system and the one for which I own the most games.

How I got interested in the Master System: The price... I was in Congleton in Cheshire and noticed an SMS II with Alex Kidd built in at a new shop. I was saving up for a Mega Drive, and then saw that there were similar games on the Master System, of course I didn't appreciate the technology gap at the time, as there was £40 burning a hole in my pocket! Interestingly enough, along with Sonic The Hedgehog, it cost just that.

Top five favorite games: I was always a fan of platformers. There were so many around at the time - this was just before the magazines started to moan about "yet another platform game." Yes it's obvious, but everyone in the UK had Alex Kidd In Miracle World. I spent hours playing that game the first day I bought my SMS. Second and thirdly it has to be Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2, both absolute classics that show off what the SMS can do - and stand up well against their Mega Drive counterparts. Next, Master Of Darkness - it's a fantastic Castlevania rip off, great gameplay in a spooky atmosphere. Finally, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, some say it's harder than the Mega Drive version, I've not noticed the difference personally, but this is a game you can play for hours.

My SMS Collection: It's pretty big, I've got almost 200 SMS games alone, the vast majority are European versions, although there's a few sealed Brazilian games as well. I have a few rare games, although I collect for gaming and sentimental value. As such I'm not currently looking for anything in particular.
